Letter: Old growth protests are working

So it appears the old growth protests [Gathering promotes end to old-growth logging,” June 13] actually did get the attention of our politicians and we saw a nice green-washed letter from our local Powell River-Sunshine Coast MLA [“Viewpoint: Old growth forest protection,” June 11].

But before we get overwhelmed with the warm fuzziness, let’s remember what our politicians fear the most, which is being denied a majority and at best having to be inconvenienced by a coalition. Remember a botched referendum on pluralistic voting and a mid-pandemic snap election?

So as October 2024 drifts into our horizon and all the old growth protests slowly become a distant memory, we might remember how we would have voted in June of 2021, and vote that way in October 2024.
