On this day:
In 1973, a tennis match between Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King billed as the “Battle of the Sexes” took place in Houston, Texas, with King winning the match and prize money totalling $100,000. Approximately 90 million people watched the match worldwide.

In 1990, reunification was ratified by East Germany and West Germany.

In 2012, a National Football League game at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas set a regular-season attendance record (105,121).
