Powell River RCMP reported the following for August 18 to 24, 2021.

Thefts: 14

August 18; Cranberry Street
At approximately 1:14 pm, Powell River RCMP responded to a report of a theft from a residence on Cranberry Street. The homeowner reported that two items were taken from the front entrance of the unlocked home and provided the name and a description of a female who had been hanging around the area. At 2:46 pm, RCMP received a report of a second theft from the yard of a residence on Manson Avenue. Police conducted patrols and located a 39-year-old female running down Manson from Mitchell Brothers’ store. Staff reported the female had taken items from the store without paying. The female was arrested for theft and released to appear in Powell River Provincial Court. The items taken from the residence on Cranberry Street were recovered from the suspect.

August 22; Highway 101, south
At approximately 4:29 pm, Powell River RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision at Lang Creek bridge. The vehicle had struck the railings on the east side of the bridge causing extensive damage to the railings and cement bracing. Police spoke to the driver who was the sole occupant of the vehicle and detected an odour of liquor. The driver was identified and a roadside test was administered which registered a fail. The 33-year-old driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and transported by ambulance to Powell River General Hospital, where he was treated and released. The driver was issued a notice of driving prohibition and released to appear in Powell River Provincial Court. The bridge was examined and determined to be safe for vehicle traffic.
