February 5; Marine Avenue, Townsite
At approximately 3:45 pm, Powell River RCMP officers were out on patrol and observed a vehicle heading northbound on Marine Avenue, driven by a known prohibited driver. Police observed the vehicle driving dangerously and speeding out of sight toward Townsite.

During patrols of Townsite, police observed the male driver walking on Poplar Street; upon seeing the officer, the male fled. Police pursued the male through several yards and eventually caught him trying to climb over a fence. At the same time, a resident in the area phoned 911 and reported that the vehicle the male had been driving had been found abandoned in their yard.

The 32-year-old male was arrested for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while prohibited and possession for the purpose of trafficking. The vehicle was seized by police. The investigation is ongoing.
