At approximately 11:38 am on May 19, Powell River RCMP responded to a report from Brooks Secondary School that an older male with a camera and a large, expensive-looking telephoto lens was taking photos of students during a field trip to Willingdon Beach Park.

The male was described as being between 50 to 60 years of age with a medium build, grey hair, grey goatee, wearing a Tilley hat and riding an electric bicycle. A teacher told the male to stop taking pictures and he left, riding away down Willingdon Beach Trail. Police conducted patrols and the male was not located.

Anyone who may have witnessed the event or with information about it, or any other crime, is asked to contact Powell River RCMP at 604.485.6255 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.TIPS (8477), or go online at bccrimestoppers.com. Callers will remain anonymous.
