Surrey holds off late rally, defeats Powell River in BCHL pod

Eagles earn 5-4 win, even season series with Kings at one win each

Surrey Eagles built a four-goal lead by the six minute mark of the third period in a BC Hockey League game against Powell River Kings on April 7, and hung on for a 5-4 win.

Powell River rallied late, scoring three times in the final 12 minutes, with goals coming from Nic Porchetta, Branden Toye and Adamo Santia.

Surrey led 1-0 after 20 minutes and 2-1 after two periods. Josh Kagan was the other goal scorer for Powell River, scoring his sixth goal in three games at 15:11 of the second period.

Dylan Malarchuk and Ben Raymond each set up one goal for the Kings. Jakob Drapeau took the loss in goal, stopping 24 of the 29 shots he faced.

Powell River returns to action April 9 against Coquitlam. Game time at Scotia Barn in Burnaby is 7:30 pm.
