Ryder Spick of Spick & Sons Projects is probably tiring of the Clark Griswold jokes by now, but that mild annoyance cannot lessen the feeling of pride he should have for bringing joy and wonder to our community.

by Erin Innes As the holiday season approaches, the people of Powell River open our hearts and wallets to hamper drives and other charity acts aimed at relieving hunger in our community.

Complex memories: I enjoyed reading the stories about Powell River Recreation Complex [“Powell River Recreation Complex 40 years,” December 9]. It brought back many memories for me as well.

What are your thoughts on this week's cartoon?

The holiday season is a time of generosity and community spirit. In newspapers there are “feel-good stories” and the month of December is always full of them. Community and church volunteers are working overtime so those in need are taken care of.

Climate funding not enough: It was good to see the Peak's coverage of climate change and the events of November 29 [“Climate march highlights global threat,” December 2]. Unfortunately, a key fact was both mis-reported and unexplored.

The show must go on. It’s the old adage often used by event organizers when plans go awry, and it is something Powell River Sea Fair Society board members should remember when considering the cancellation of the annual summer fair.

by Katie Cameron I would like to talk about a new type of intimidation. I recently did a housesitting job south of town by Black Point and I had to drive back into town every day to feed my cats. That's where the intimidation came into play.
